Polish and UI
Assignment 3 - Week 12 - Polish and UI
Polish and UI
Recently I have added a few elements that help with the polish in Sir Axelot. Firstly I added a particle system to the spiders death a little while ago. I have also very recently added hearts for the players health as an aspect of the UI but also as a way to polish what was there previously (which was a number). I have also tweaked the hearts so that their colours seem more suited to the game style but also added an animation to them. This part was actually quite challenging as I did not know how to use animations on a canvas. As a work around for this, in a coroutine I used a loop to cycle through and change each heart in an array to the first sprite then wait for x seconds, after this use another loop to set each heart in the array the a different sprite and wait again then repeat. This was to get a beating effect for the hearts. I have also gone a tweaked a few sections of the game and some very slight movement issues in order to make the game feel more refined and polished.
Example of the beating heart animation including its change when a heart is taken away
Feedback
Really love the new heart system its really rad and looks super cool. game still feels smooth and the gameplay is fun. the signs are super cute and i have notice you have put more grass on the ground which makes the game look a lot better!
Awesome feedback, I am happy with the changes I've made recently and hopefully will keep adding things into the future!
Overall, I am very happy with how everything is coming together. Unfortunately I have had no time for a menu UI and is annoying to not have it in place yet, although I am hoping to get it done very shortly. :)
